Who is AMAFU?
AMAFU was first started in the mid 1990’s by Glenda Kirkiridis. She was unable to find the colour range and matching hues to fit a quilt for a competition and in frustration decided to dye her own fabrics. This was a lot of hard work, but she got the result she needed. A number of quilters then asked if she would dye certain colours for them. (at a price due to the hard work) and the rest is history.
AMAFU currently offers a wide range of products in the hand manufactured range, from hand dyed fabrics to screen prints, discharge, etc. We are now also offering quilting classes, from beginners to the more innovative. During this process we demonstrate the flexibility of our fabrics in either traditional or innovative quilting.
A new extension to our services is quilting for customers. We have a long arm machine run by a very talented and enthusiastic lady who is producing some marvelous quilts.
All AMAFU fabrics are of high American Quilting grade fabrics with a high thread count, 100% cotton and are manufactured under strict conditions to ensure the highest quality standards possible. The same applies to our other, non-fabric products. Our quilts made with these fabrics are still hanging in on our walls and are used on our beds. After 10 years, they still look as good as new. We are proud of our product and use it exclusively whenever we can.
Please note that ALL our fabrics are over 150 cm wide. This means you get over 34% MORE fabric per meter than standard 112 cm (45 inches) quilting fabric.
